Answer reps' discount approval questions as a short FAQ
- For Revenue operations

About this exercise
Reps keep asking who approves their discounts. Write a 4-question FAQ that answers these exact questions: 15% off a 1-year deal; 22% off a 3-year deal; 28% off a 3-year deal; 12% off a 1-year deal with free implementation. Format each as a "Q:" line then an "A:" line naming the approver(s). Apply the latest policy update, and keep it plain text under 140 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Missing the update email. The AI reads the policy table and misses the 3-year change in the email below it. Try: Add: "Apply Hal's Nov 3 update for 3-year deals."
- Trusting the rumor. The AI may repeat the Slack rumor as if it were policy. Try: Add: "Use only the policy and the Nov 3 email. Ignore the unconfirmed Slack message."
- Forgetting the extra review. The AI answers only the discount part and misses that free services also need Deal Desk. Try: Add: "Free services also go to Deal Desk on top of the discount approver."
- No Q and A shape. The AI writes an explanation of the policy instead of answering the four questions. Try: Add: "Exactly 4 pairs, each a Q: line then an A: line."
- Getting markdown. The AI bolds the Q and A labels. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
What a strong prompt includes
- Lists the four questions
- Applies the update
- Ignores the rumor
- Sets the Q/A shape
- Asks for plain text
