Write a cold email that uses only the approved customer result
- For Sales and customer success
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
You're emailing Dana Whitfield, Head of Logistics at Prairie Gold Foods, for the first time. Marketing pulled the 40% figure in your notes because it came from a small pilot; the only approved result is Corvel Supply's 18% fewer missed pickups. Write the email under 100 words: open with Dana's new Tulsa hub (not with who you are), use the Corvel result, and sign off as just "Priya".
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the biggest number. The AI reaches for the most impressive stat, which here is the pilot figure marketing pulled. Try: Say it: "Use only the Corvel result: 18% fewer missed pickups. Don't mention the 40% pilot."
- Opening with yourself. Cold emails from AI usually start "My name is..." or "I hope this finds you well." Try: Add: "Open with Dana's new Tulsa hub, not with who I am."
- A full signature block. The AI adds name, title, company and phone under the email. Try: Add: "Sign off with just: Priya"
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs long when you only give a total like 100 words. Try: Cap each part instead, like "3 short paragraphs, each under 25 words," so the total lands well under 100.
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the approved result
- Excludes the pilot number
- Sets the opener
- Sets the sign-off
- Sets a size
