Turn a lead's notes into a 5-row discovery question table
- For Sales and customer success
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Build a discovery plan for tomorrow's call as a markdown table with columns Goal | Question | Listen for and exactly 5 rows. Every question starts with What, How or Walk me through, and none of them pitches or names our product. At least one question must use the 8% late-delivery figure from the notes. Under 170 words total.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Getting a question list, not a table. The AI writes numbered questions with intro and tips. Try: Say: "A table with columns Goal | Question | Listen for and exactly 5 rows."
- Leading questions. The AI writes yes/no or pitching questions like "Would a scheduling tool help?" Try: Add: "Every question starts with What, How or Walk me through; never mention our product."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI runs long on tables when only a total is given. Try: Cap each cell: "each cell under 12 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for a table
- Fixes the row count
- Sets the question openers
- Uses the 8% figure
- Bans pitching
