Post a 3-bullet deal update in Slack with the ask first
- For Sales and customer success
- You practice Asking for a format you can use
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Post an internal Slack update on the Vantage Credit Union deal for your sales engineer and manager. The first line must be the one thing you need: a custom SSO demo from your SE, Mia, by Friday. Then at most 3 bullets. Use the corrected deal size. Plain text, since Slack shows bold as stray asterisks in your team's channel. Each bullet is under 14 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Burying the ask. The AI writes a summary first and leaves the request to Mia for the end. Try: Add: "First line: the ask to Mia, SSO demo by Friday."
- Using the first deal size. The notes say $120k, then correct it to $72k. Try: Add: "Use the corrected deal size, $72k."
- Dropping the competitor. The AI keeps fun facts and drops the competing demo. Try: Add: "Include the LoanLoop demo next week."
- Too many bullets. The AI lists every note as a bullet. Try: Add: "At most 3 bullets after the first line."
- Forgetting it's plain text. AI adds bold labels and headings, which show up as stray symbols in your Slack channel. Try: Add: "Plain text only. No bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes

- Caps the bullets
