About this exercise

Write a one-page proposal for Calloway Freight from your discovery notes. Use exactly these 4 headings in order: Problem, Proposed solution, Investment, Next steps. Phase 2 was cut on the last call, so price only Phase 1. Don't invent savings, payback periods or customer quotes; use only numbers from the notes. Under 220 words with at most 6 bullets.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Letting the AI pick the sections. AI proposals add an executive summary, about us and terms, which blows past one page. Try: Give the headings: "Exactly 4 headings in order: Problem, Proposed solution, Investment, Next steps."
  • Pricing the old scope. The notes list both phases; the AI may add them up and miss the Nov 4 change. Try: Add: "Phase 2 was cut. Price Phase 1 only."
  • Inventing a business case. AI loves an ROI line, and the deck's unsourced 40% is right there. Try: Add: "No savings percentages, payback or quotes. Use only numbers from the notes."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and runs long when you only give a total like 220 words. Try: Cap each part instead, like "each section under 50 words," so the total lands well under 220.
  • Too many bullets. The AI turns every section into a long bullet list. Try: Add: "At most 6 bullets in total."

What a strong prompt includes
