About this exercise

The buyer's VP asks you to justify the $36,000 annual price. Write a reply in plain text under 140 words with exactly 4 numbered lines: 1. Time saved per year (hours), 2. Value of that time in dollars, 3. Net after price, 4. One honest caveat. Use only the numbers the buyer gave you (not our benchmarks), show the math on lines 1 to 3, and begin line 3 with "If your numbers hold,". Do not promise results.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using our benchmark. The AI uses 70% savings from marketing. Try: Add: "Use only the buyer's own numbers."
  • Promising the result. The AI says 'you will save'. Try: Add: "Begin line 3 with If your numbers hold, and don't promise results."
  • Math skipped. The AI states $228,000 with no steps. Try: Add: "Show the math on lines 1 to 3."
  • Wrong format. The AI writes a long business case. Try: Add: "Exactly 4 numbered lines under 140 words."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Lists the four lines
  • Restricts to buyer numbers
  • Asks for the math
  • Sets the line 3 opener
  • Bans promises
