Turn scattered Reconstruction notes into a timeline

Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

Your APUSH test on Reconstruction is Thursday and your notes jump around in time. You want a timeline to memorize: exactly 6 numbered lines in the form 'year: event', in order from earliest to latest, each event under 10 words, plain text, nothing else. It must include the 2 events Mr. Okafor said are on the test, and use only your notes, including his correction.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 6 numbered lines."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each line: "each event under 8 words."
  • Keeping the notes' order. The AI tends to follow the order of your notes, which jump around in time. Try: Say: "Sort the lines from earliest to latest year."
  • Skipping the test events. The AI doesn't know which events your teacher flagged, so it may leave one out to fit 6 lines. Try: Add: "Must include the 14th Amendment and the Compromise of 1877."
  • Missing the correction. Your notes contain the wrong year next to the right one, and the AI can copy the wrong one. Try: Add: "Use only my notes, and use Mr. Okafor's correction (1877)."
