Boil a textbook section down to 5 steps
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
For your Civics test, you want the textbook section on how a bill becomes a law as exactly 5 numbered steps in order, each under 15 words, plain text, nothing else. Use only the textbook excerpt, not your friend's notes, which get the veto override wrong.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not saying how many steps. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more steps than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered steps."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each step: "each step under 12 words."
- Not naming your source. The AI mixes in your friend's notes or what it already knows, including the wrong override number. Try: Say: "Use only the textbook excerpt, not Jaylen's notes."
- Not asking for order. The AI may group facts by topic instead of the order a bill moves. Try: Add: "In the order a bill moves, first step first."
- Forgetting where it will be read. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols on a printed study sheet. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
