Condense the demographic transition model into five lines

Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

Your AP Human Geography test has a question on the demographic transition model. Get exactly 5 numbered lines, one per stage in order, each in the form 'Stage N: birth rate, death rate, growth', each under 15 words, plain text. Use only Mr. Castillo's version, which has 5 stages, and his correction about Stage 3.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for an explanation. The AI writes paragraphs on causes and history, not something you can memorize. Try: Show the shape: "Stage N: birth rate, death rate, growth".
  • Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered lines."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each line: "each line under 12 words."
  • Missing the correction. Your wrong note about Stage 3 is still in the material, next to the fix. Try: Add: "Use Mr. Castillo's correction for Stage 3."
  • Using the 4-stage version. Many sources stop at Stage 4, and the AI may follow them. Try: Add: "Use the 5-stage version from my notes only."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Says how many lines
  • Shows the line shape
  • Uses the correction
  • Sets a length limit
  • Says to use only the material
