Make food web practice questions from a class diagram

Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

Your Biology quiz uses the class's pond food web. You want exactly 4 numbered practice questions about it, then all answers together under an 'Answers' line, under 110 words total, plain text. Use only organisms and links in the class web, include one question about what happens if an organism is removed, and follow Mr. Dube's correction about the heron.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Not saying how many questions. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more questions than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered questions."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each question under 15 words, each answer under 10."
  • Letting in other pond animals. The AI knows ponds have frogs and ducks and adds them. Try: Add: "Use only organisms in my class web."
  • Skipping the hard question type. The AI writes easy identify-the-producer questions and skips the removal question. Try: Add: "One question asks what happens if an organism is removed."
  • Missing the correction. Your backwards arrow is still in your notes. Try: Add: "The heron eats the water snake (Mr. Dube's correction)."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Says how many questions
  • Asks for the removal question
  • Uses the correction
  • Puts answers at the end
  • Says to use only the material
