Match poetry terms to example lines from the class poem
Practice: Keeping the AI to your sources. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your AP Literature quiz asks you to spot devices in the poem you studied. Make exactly 5 numbered cards in the form 'term: "line from the poem"', with each line quoted exactly from the poem, plain text, nothing else. Use only the 5 terms on Mr. Ayala's list, and follow his correction about which line is the personification.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not saying how many cards. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more cards than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered cards."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Fix the shape: "term, colon, quoted line, nothing else."
- Letting in other terms. The AI adds enjambment, imagery and other devices that aren't on your quiz. Try: Say: "Only the 5 terms on my list."
- Not asking for exact quotes. The AI paraphrases lines, and your teacher doesn't accept paraphrases. Try: Add: "Quote each line exactly from the poem."
- Missing the correction. Your notes list a simile as personification. Try: Add: "Use Mr. Ayala's correction for personification."
