Check your line-by-line paraphrase of a sonnet

Practice: Catching mistakes and made-up facts. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

For English, you paraphrased four lines of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18 and want to know which you got right before your quiz. Get exactly 4 numbered lines labeled exactly Accurate or Inaccurate using Mr. Hale's glossary, with a reason under 12 words, plain text. Don't give corrected paraphrases.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for a check. The AI rewrites all four lines, which is the work you're practicing. Try: Say: "Don't give corrected paraphrases. Just label them."
  • Not giving exact labels. Without fixed labels, the AI says 'mostly right' about everything. Try: Say: "Label each exactly Accurate or Inaccurate."
  • Not naming the standard. The AI may accept a literal word swap, which your teacher marks wrong. Try: Add: "Use Mr. Hale's glossary; literal swaps that miss the meaning are Inaccurate."
  • Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each reason: "under 10 words."
  • Forgetting where it will be read. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your notes. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
