Write a 3-line calm-down routine for exam day
- For College students
- You practice Getting the tone right
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Get a short routine to read before an exam, exactly 3 lines starting 'Before:', 'During:' and 'If stuck:', each one sentence, under 90 words total, plain text, in second person, using only the counseling center handout.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Adding outside tips. The AI throws in tea, meditation apps and sleep advice. Try: Add: "Use only the handout."
- Too long to remember. A routine you can't remember during an exam won't help. Try: Say: "Exactly 3 lines, one sentence each."
- Dropping the details. A vague line like 'breathe deeply' loses the 4-4-4-4 pattern. Try: Add: "Include the exact box breathing steps and the 2-minute rule."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the three labels
- Says second person
- Uses only the handout
- Sets the length
- Asks for plain text
