Split a group project fairly in one chat message
- For College students
- You practice Giving the right context
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Your group of four presents Friday Nov 21. Get one pasteable group-chat message under 90 words, plain text, with one line per person (Name: task, due date), the rule that everyone presents at least 2 minutes, and ending with a question asking for a thumbs up. Respect everyone's availability.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Ignoring availability. The AI splits tasks evenly and gives Luis something due while he's away. Try: Say: "Luis is away Nov 17-19 and Ken has an exam Nov 18."
- Not shaping the message. You get a project plan, not something to paste. Try: Say: "One line per person: Name: task, due date."
- Forgetting the closer. The AI ends with a sign-off, not a question. Try: Say: "End with a question asking for a thumbs up."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
