Check product copy against your brand voice guide
Practice: Catching mistakes and made-up facts. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
A freelancer sent product copy, and you need to check it against your brand voice guide. Ask for exactly 3 numbered lines, each starting 'Off-brand:', quoting the exact phrase and naming the guide rule it breaks. Then one final line starting 'On-brand:' that quotes the best phrase to keep. Plain text, no rewritten copy. Write a prompt that gets that check.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking for a rewrite. The AI hands back new copy, so you can't send the freelancer clear notes. Try: Show it: "Exactly 3 numbered lines starting Off-brand:, then one On-brand: line."
- Checking taste, not the guide. The AI gives opinions instead of naming which rule each phrase breaks. Try: Add: "Name the guide rule each phrase breaks; flag unprovable claims."
- Only criticism. Feedback with nothing to keep is hard for a freelancer to use. Try: Add: "End with On-brand: quoting the best phrase. No rewrite. Plain text."
