Summarize only band changes in a weekly digest
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write the weekly digest for the VP, Lara, with only the accounts whose health band changed. One line per account formatted "Account: Old to New - reason", worst change first (Yellow to Red before Green to Yellow before Yellow to Green). Plain text, under 60 words, no intro.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Including unchanged accounts. The AI adds Quartz and Ridge because their notes sound important. Try: Say: "Only accounts whose band changed."
- Wrong order. The AI lists in the order of the notes. Try: Say: "Worst change first: Yellow to Red, then Green to Yellow, then Yellow to Green."
- Wrong line format. The AI writes sentences or bullets. Try: Show: Account: Old to New - reason.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
