Summarize a three-year fee schedule and flag the legal check
- For Executives
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Summarize the contract for the CFO in exactly four lines starting "Term:", "Fees:", "Ends:" and "Check:". Fees shows the three annual fees and their total as a sum. Check says to confirm the notice terms with Legal and states no legal conclusion. Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using the sales total. The draft says $144,000. Try: Say: "Include the 5% increases: $151,320."
- Stating the legal meaning. The AI says what the notice clause means. Try: Say: "Check: confirm with Legal; no legal conclusion."
- Wrong layout. The AI writes a narrative. Try: Name the four labels.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
