About this exercise

Decide the delay credit. Write a first line exactly "Larkspur delay credit", then exactly three lines starting "Vendor-caused days:", "Credit math:" and "Recommend:". Count only the days our side caused, adding the periods from the timeline. Credit math uses the formula in the policy. Recommend starts with "Approve $" or "Escalate". Plain text, under 70 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Crediting all 21 days. The AI uses the full delay. Try: Say: "Count only days caused by us (rows 2 and 4)."
  • Giving the full month. The customer's ask and the CSM comment push for $3,000. Try: Say: "Use the policy formula; ignore the comment."
  • Missing the formula. The AI states $900 without working. Try: Say: "Credit math: days / 30 x fee."
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".

What a strong prompt includes
