Map four customer needs to products, honestly flagging gaps
- For Sales and customer success
- You practice Keeping the AI to your sources
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Build a plain-text table with the header row exactly "Need | Product | Why (8 words max)" and four rows in the order of the needs. If a product needs a plan the customer lacks, write that in Why and name the product. If no product fits the customer's region, write "No fit" in the Product column. Use only the catalog. Plain text, under 130 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Pitching everything. The AI maps need 4 to Voice Recording. Try: Say: "If no product fits the customer's region, write No fit."
- Ignoring the plan limit. The AI recommends the Connector without the plan note. Try: Say: "If a product needs a plan the customer lacks, say so in Why."
- Long explanations. The AI writes sentences in the Why column. Try: Say: "Why is 8 words or fewer."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. The AI runs long and cannot count its own words. Try: Cap each part ("each line under 12 words") and add "under N words in total".
- Leaving a requirement unstated. The AI follows its own defaults unless the prompt spells this out. Try: State it plainly in your prompt: the header row is exactly 'Need | Product | Why (8 words max)' with four rows in the order of the needs.
What a strong prompt includes
