Ask a customer for permission to use a quote
- For Customer success managers
- You practice Getting the tone right
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write an email to Marta asking permission to use her quote. Use her exact words in quotation marks. First line exactly "Hi Marta," and last line exactly "Dev, Customer Success". Say she can edit or decline, give a reply-by date, and offer no gift or credit. Plain text, under 80 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using marketing's version. The AI uses the 90% line instead of her exact words. Try: Say: "Use her exact words in quotation marks."
- Offering the gift card. The notes mention a $100 gift card. Try: Add: "Offer no gift or credit."
- Missing the choices and date. The AI just asks 'is that OK?' Try: Say: "She can edit or decline. Reply by Nov 20."
- Generic greeting and sign-off. The AI writes 'Dear Marta' and 'Best regards'. Try: Give the first and last lines exactly.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
