List only the fact changes between two macro versions
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Compare the old and new macro. Output exactly three lines, each in the form "Changed: old -> new", one for each change in a fact (a number, a date or a condition). Ignore changes in wording. Plain text, each line under 16 words, and nothing else.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Listing wording changes. The AI lists Hello to Hi and Sincerely to Thanks. Try: Say: "Facts only: numbers, dates, conditions. Ignore wording."
- Missing a change. The AI misses the threshold. Try: Say: "Compare every number."
- Wrong format. The AI writes a table or sentences. Try: Quote the line form 'Changed: old -> new'.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the line form
- Says facts only
- Sets the count
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
