Refund one item from an order that used a whole-order promo code
- For Customer support teams
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Work out the refund for the returned item in exactly three lines starting "Item:", "Discount share:" and "Refund:". Show the math, like "20% x $60 = $12". Shipping is not refunded. Plain text, under 50 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Refunding the sticker price. The customer and the agent comment say $60. Try: Say: "Refund = price minus its discount share."
- Missing the share. The AI refunds $48 without showing why. Try: Say: "Discount share: 20% x $60 = $12."
- Wrong layout. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: Name the three labels.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
