Hand over a VIP account separating confirmed promises from rumors
- For Customer success managers
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Write a handoff note for the incoming account manager with exactly four lines starting "Confirmed:", "Unconfirmed:", "Open:" and "Preferences:". Put only items with written proof under Confirmed, put anything verbal or unverified under Unconfirmed, and do not state the churn rumor as fact. Plain text, under 110 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Treating the verbal promise as agreed. The AI lists the Dec 1 report as a commitment. Try: Say: "Anything verbal or unlogged goes under Unconfirmed."
- Stating the rumor as fact. The AI writes 'they plan to leave in Q1'. Try: Say: "Present the churn remark as an unverified rumor."
- Dropping a detail. The AI forgets the credit is not applied yet. Try: Say: "Include whether the credit has been applied."
- Wrong structure. The AI writes a narrative. Try: Name the four labels.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the four labels
- Defines confirmed as proof in writing
- Warns about the rumor
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
