Compute the negative-comment share for three weeks and name the trend
- For Business analysts
- You practice Catching mistakes and made-up facts
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Start with the line "SENTIMENT TREND - weeks 43 to 45". Then three lines in the form "Week 43: 10% (20 of 200)" with your numbers, and a last line "Trend: rising", "Trend: falling" or "Trend: flat". Percentages are rounded to whole numbers. Plain text, under 40 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using counts instead of shares. The AI compares 30 and 48. Try: Say: "Use the share: negative divided by total."
- Believing 'flat'. The AI copies the lead's remark. Try: Say: "Check the trend yourself from the shares."
- Missing the title line. The AI starts with the weeks. Try: Quote the title.
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and usually runs long, so a vague "keep it short" lands well over the limit. Try: Cap each part instead of the total, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Quotes the title
- Asks for shares
- Gives the line format
- Asks for plain text
- Sets a length limit
