Rank data requests by impact per hour
- For Managers and team leads
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Your analytics team has four data requests and you want them ranked by impact per hour of effort, highest first. Write exactly 3 numbered lines in the form '1. B - 5 / 1 hour = 5.0', leaving out any request that is already done. Plain text, under 50 words, impact divided by hours to one decimal.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Including the finished request. The AI ranks D because it's on the list. Try: Add: "Skip D, it's already done."
- Ranking by impact alone. The AI puts C first because its impact is 9. Try: Add: "Rank by impact / hours, highest first."
- No math. The AI lists letters without the score. Try: Add: "Each line like 1. B - 5 / 1 hour = 5.0."
- Leaving the format to chance. The AI picks its own length and layout unless told the exact shape. Try: Add: "Exactly 3 numbered lines. Plain text, no bold or headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example "each line under 15 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for three lines
- Skips the finished one
- Asks for the score
- Shows the line shape
- Rules out notes
