About this exercise
Pedalbot's suite has 40 cases, and every code change should run only a 10-case smoke set. Pick exactly 10 case IDs: one from each of the 9 types, plus one extra from the type with the most cases. Never pick a case marked RETIRED. Write 10 plain-text lines, each like 'ID | Type | reason under 8 words', then a last line exactly 'Coverage: 9 of 9 types'. Under 220 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Picking the first ten. The AI lists R01 to R08 and a couple more, so whole types go untested. Try: Say: "One case from each of the 9 types, plus one extra Refunds case."
- Choosing retired cases. The AI picks from the list without noticing the RETIRED label. Try: Add: "Never pick a case marked RETIRED."
- Chatty explanations. The AI adds an intro, bold headings and long reasons. Try: Add: "Plain text, reason under 8 words, no intro."
- Skipping the last line. The AI ends with a summary sentence instead of the exact coverage line. Try: Add: "Last line exactly: Coverage: 9 of 9 types".
What a strong prompt includes
- Says exactly how many
- Asks for one per type
- Excludes retired cases
- Fixes the line format
- Asks for plain text
