About this exercise
Write a memo for an employee in plain text, under 150 words, with these headings on their own lines: Plan A, Plan B, Yearly cost if you use little care, Yearly cost in a high-use year, Questions to ask. Show the math in each cost line (for example 96 x 26 = 2,496). Use 26 pay periods. Do not say which plan to choose, which is better, or which is a good deal. HR reviews before sending.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Recommending. The AI says Plan B is better for her. Try: Say: "Do not say which plan to choose or which is better."
- Math errors. The AI skips or miscounts the totals. Try: Say: "Show the math: premium x 26 plus copays or out-of-pocket maximum."
- Headings. The AI uses a table or other headings. Try: Say: "Exactly these five headings in order."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
