Summarize handbook changes as old versus new
- For HR and recruiting
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
Write a change log for employees in plain text with exactly four lines, one per changed policy, each formatted "Topic: was X, now Y." Only include policies that changed. Under 25 words per line. List them in the order they appear in the notes. Skip anything marked unchanged or unapproved. End with no extra line. HR reviews before sending.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Including drafts. The AI includes probation and Juneteenth. Try: Say: "Skip anything unchanged or unapproved."
- Format. The AI writes paragraphs. Try: Say: "Each line: Topic: was X, now Y."
- Wrong figures. The AI mixes up old and new. Try: Say: "Check each was/now against the notes."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
