Announce a payroll date change in four lines
- For HR and recruiting
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write the all-staff announcement in plain text as exactly four lines. Line 1 exactly: Subject: Payroll date change in December. Line 2 gives the old and new pay dates for the December payday. Line 3 says who to contact with questions. Line 4 exactly: - People Team. No apology, no exclamation marks, and do not explain the bank's internal reasons.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Apologizing. The AI says 'we apologize for the inconvenience'. Try: Say: "No apology and no exclamation marks."
- Sharing internal reasons. The AI explains the bank cutoff. Try: Say: "Do not explain internal reasons."
- Wrong number of lines. The AI writes a paragraph. Try: Say: "Exactly four lines, line 1 and line 4 exactly as given."
- Missing dates. The AI says 'moves up slightly'. Try: Say: "Line 2 gives the old and new pay dates."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
