- For HR and recruiting
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Advanced
About this exercise
Summarize the request for Director of People Marta Lindgren in plain text, under 130 words, as five labeled lines: Request:, Policy says:, Gap:, Missing information:, Precedent noted:. Do not recommend approving or denying. Use only the documents. If the notes do not give a precedent, write "Precedent noted: None in the notes". HR makes the decision.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Recommending. The AI says 'recommend approving'. Try: Say: "Do not recommend approving or denying."
- Treating hearsay as precedent. The AI cites last year's exception. Try: Say: "If the notes give no precedent, write Precedent noted: None in the notes."
- Missing the gap math. The AI doesn't compute days over the cap. Try: Say: "Gap: show the days above the cap."
- Labels. The AI uses paragraphs. Try: Say: "Five lines with these exact labels."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
