About this exercise

Turn the five intake requests into a markdown table with the columns Request, Route to, Urgency, Missing info. One row per request, in the order received. Route to must be exactly one team name from the routing list; if a request fits none or two teams, write Triage lead. The Request cell is the ID and the requester's first name (for example "R1 Dana"). Urgency is High only if the requester states a deadline within 5 business days of today (Monday Nov 9), written with that date like "High (Nov 12)"; otherwise Normal. Missing info is a short phrase or None. Output only the table. Legal Ops confirms the routing.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Two-team request guessed. The AI picks one team for the request that fits two. Try: Say: "If a request fits none or two teams, write Triage lead."
  • Urgency by tone. The AI marks everything High or goes by wording, not dates. Try: Say: "High only if the stated deadline is within 5 business days of Nov 9."
  • Extra text around the table. The AI adds an intro and notes. Try: Say: "Output only the table, with these four columns."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the columns
  • Triage lead fallback
  • Date rule
  • Table only
  • Today's date
