About this exercise
You write the nurture sequence for Sprout Reports. Write a prompt for the day-3 email to trial users. Start with "Subject:" followed by a subject of 8 words or fewer, then a body under 80 words with exactly one call to action whose link text is "Set up your first report", signed "Priya from Sprout". Plain text, no fake urgency or countdowns, and only mention features the trial includes.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Promoting paid features. The AI lists every feature it sees, including ones trial users can't use. Try: Add: "Only mention features the trial includes; skip paid-only ones."
- Adding urgency. Nurture emails default to 'don't miss out' language. Try: Add: "No fake urgency, countdowns or 'last chance' language."
- Skipping the subject format. The AI writes a long subject or leaves it off. Try: Say: "Start with 'Subject:' and keep it to 8 words or fewer, then sign it Priya from Sprout."
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the email's day and audience
- Gives the exact call to action
- Limits to trial features
- Caps subject and body
- Bans urgency
