Write a five-step spill response SOP that keeps the chemical rule
- For Operations and supply chain
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write a prompt for a spill response SOP with exactly 5 numbered steps for water or oil spills on the warehouse floor, each starting with a verb. One step must say what to do if the spill is anything else. Leave out cleaning tips and anything about the supply room. Plain text, under 110 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Losing the chemical rule. The AI tells staff to clean any spill. Try: Say: "One step for any other spill: do not clean it, step back, call ext 214."
- Missing a key step. The AI skips blocking the area or the yellow bin. Try: List the steps to include: block, radio, absorbent, yellow bin.
- Including side notes. The AI adds restocking and door remarks as steps. Try: Say: "Leave out anything that isn't a spill response step."
- Wrong count or no verbs. The AI writes 7 steps or sentences without verbs first. Try: Say: "Exactly 5 numbered steps, each starting with a verb."
- Markdown extras and long output. AI adds bold, headings and bullets by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings" and cap each line, for example "each line under 15 words".
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the step count
- Includes the other-spill rule
- Says what to leave out
- Shows the line format
- Asks for plain text
