About this exercise
Write a memo for CFO Everton Hale in plain text, under 150 words, with these headings on their own lines: Approved, Filled, Open, Gap to plan. Under each heading give role counts by department as in the notes, and show the subtraction in Gap to plan (for example Approved 6 minus Filled 4 = 2 open). Use only the notes. Do not recommend adding or cutting headcount and do not comment on individual hires.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Counting the pending offer. The AI treats the pending offer as filled. Try: Say: "Filled means accepted offers only."
- Including opinions. The AI mentions picky hiring manager or extra Sales roles. Try: Say: "Use only the approved plan numbers."
- Recommending. The AI suggests cutting roles. Try: Say: "Do not recommend adding or cutting headcount."
- Headings. The AI invents sections. Try: Say: "Exactly these four headings in order."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example: "each line under 15 words."
- Markdown. The AI bolds words or adds headings. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
