Tell reps what changed in a competitor's pricing in four lines
- For Revenue operations
- You practice Saying who it's for
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Write an update for reps about a competitor change as exactly 4 plain-text lines starting What changed:, Effective:, Say this:, Don't say:. Each line under 22 words. Use only the verified facts (checked on their site), not the rumor. Say this is one sentence a rep can speak to a buyer. Don't say names the rumor and one other thing to avoid.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Repeating the rumor as fact. The AI says Tallyforge is being acquired. Try: Add: "Use verified facts only; the rumor goes under Don't say."
- Missing the effective-date detail. The AI omits existing-customer pricing. Try: Add: "Effective: new customers Jan 1 2027; existing keep price until renewal."
- Unverified claims in Say this. The AI claims we're better. Try: Add: "Say this uses only verified prices."
- Long note. The AI writes a long memo. Try: Add: "Four labeled lines, plain text, each under 22 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Lists the four labels
- Uses verified facts only
- Names the date nuance
- Handles the rumor
- Plain text
