Rewrite a lead-scoring memo as a casual note to reps
- For Sales and customer success
- You practice Getting the tone right
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Marketing Ops sent a jargon-heavy memo about the new lead scores, and your reps won't read it. Rewrite it as a casual Slack message to reps that keeps the score thresholds and response times. Don't use the terms MQL, SAL or score decay. End with a line that starts "What to do:". Plain text, under 70 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Losing the numbers. When AI simplifies, it often drops the exact thresholds and times. Try: Add: "Keep every score threshold and response time."
- Keeping the jargon. The AI keeps memo terms like MQL because they're in the source. Try: Add: "Don't use MQL, SAL or score decay."
- Formal tone. The AI keeps the memo's stiff voice. Try: Add: "Casual Slack voice, like a teammate. End with What to do: ..."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for "under 70 words" and it often goes over. Try: Cap the parts: "4 short lines, each under 14 words."
- Getting markdown. The AI bolds the score bands. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the voice
- Keeps the numbers
- Bans the jargon
