About this exercise
Build a retention table with columns Cohort, Start, Active, Retention, then an Overall row last. Sort the four cohort rows by Active from largest to smallest. Retention is Active divided by Start as a percent with one decimal and a % sign. Four Q2 accounts merged into other accounts; they are not churn, so remove them from Start for that cohort (Active already excludes them). Add a last line "Overall uses 196 customers." if your overall start total is 196. Under 80 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not adjusting for the merge. The AI uses 52 and 41 for Q2 (78.8%). Try: Add: "For Q2 use Start 48; merged accounts are not churn."
- Wrong overall. The AI averages the four percentages. Try: Add: "Overall = total active / total start, not an average of percentages."
- Rounding or format. The AI shows 85% without a decimal or no % sign. Try: Add: "One decimal and a % sign."
- Missing the last line. The AI adds commentary. Try: Add: "Last line exactly: Overall uses 196 customers. Under 80 words."
