About this exercise
Your former champion Ilse Ward just started at a new company. Write a note in plain text under 70 words, starting "Hi Ilse,". Congratulate her, mention one specific thing from working together, and say you'd be glad to help at her new company if useful. Do not pitch a product, ask for a meeting, or mention that her old company's renewal is open. Sign off "Cal". Make the first sentence under 12 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Pitching immediately. The AI suggests our product for Brightwater. Try: Add: "No pitch and no meeting request."
- Mentioning the renewal. The AI asks about who handles Tamarack now. Try: Add: "Don't mention the old company's renewal."
- Generic congratulations. The AI writes 'wishing you all the best'. Try: Add: "Mention one specific thing from working together."
- Long note. The AI writes a long note. Try: Add: "Plain text under 70 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Sets the opener and sign-off
- Asks for a specific memory
- Offers help without pitching
