Work out comparative advantage from a production table

Practice: Showing an example of what you want. About 5 minutes.

About this exercise

Your Intro Economics problem set has a comparative advantage table you can't crack. Get exactly 3 numbered lines: each country's opportunity cost of one phone with the math shown, then which country should make phones and which shirts, plain text, under 75 words. Use the corrected numbers from the TA's post.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Asking for a definition. The AI defines comparative advantage in general and may skip your table. Try: Ask for the math: "Show each country's opportunity cost of one phone."
  • Missing the TA's fix. The typo and the correction are both in your material. Try: Add: "Use Brevia = 6 phones from the TA's post."
  • Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 3 numbered lines."
  • Mixing up the two advantages. The AI may point to who makes more, which is absolute advantage. Try: Add: "Decide by the lower opportunity cost."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each line: "each under 20 words."
  • Forgetting where it will be read. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your notes. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."

What a strong prompt includes
