Practice matching answers to IB command terms
Practice: Showing an example of what you want. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
In IB Biology you lose marks by describing when the question says explain. Get exactly 4 numbered lines labeling each sample answer exactly State, Describe or Explain, based on what the answer actually does using your teacher's definitions, with a reason under 10 words, plain text. Don't rewrite any sample answer.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Asking what the terms mean. The AI defines the terms, which you already have, and skips the practice. Try: Ask for labels: "Label each sample answer State, Describe or Explain."
- Labeling the question instead. The AI may label all four 'Explain' because the question says explain. Try: Add: "Label what each answer actually does."
- Getting a model answer. The AI writes the perfect answer, so you don't practice spotting the difference. Try: Add: "Don't rewrite any answer."
- Not saying how many lines. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more lines than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 4 numbered lines."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each reason: "under 8 words."
- Forgetting where it will be read. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols in your notes. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
