Practice splitting words into morphemes
Practice: Showing an example of what you want. About 5 minutes.
About this exercise
Your Intro Linguistics quiz asks you to break words into morphemes. Get exactly 5 numbered practice words from your professor's list, then all answers together under an 'Answers' line in the form 'un + happy + ness', plain text. Use only words from the list and follow her rule about spelling changes.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Not saying how many words. The AI picks its own number, and it usually picks more words than you need. Try: Be exact: "Exactly 5 numbered words."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Fix the shape: "just the word, then just the split."
- Not limiting the words. The AI picks its own words, which won't match your quiz list. Try: Say: "Use only words from my professor's list."
- Missing the spelling rule. The AI may split by spelling, like 'happi + ness', which your professor marks wrong. Try: Add: "Use base forms, like happy + ness."
- Answers next to each word. Seeing the answer right away means you never test yourself. Try: Add: "Put all answers at the end under 'Answers'."
What a strong prompt includes
