Choose polite or casual Korean for four situations
- For High school students
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Intermediate
About this exercise
For four situations, decide which speech level fits, using only your class rules. Get a markdown table with columns Situation, Level (exactly Polite or Casual) and Why (under 8 words), then a last line starting 'Safest default:' with one level. Plain text otherwise, under 100 words.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Using Formal. The AI adds the formal level, which is not on your quiz. Try: Say: "Only Polite or Casual."
- Missing the first-meeting trap. A person you just met is polite, even if they are close in age. Try: Add: "Someone I just met is Polite."
- No default line. The AI skips the rule of thumb. Try: Say: "End with a line starting Safest default:"
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Asks for a table
- Gives exact level words
- Uses the class rules
- Asks for the default line
- Limits the Why
