Turn volunteer notes into three honest resume bullets
- For Job seekers
- You practice Setting limits and rules
- Time about 5 minutes
- Level Beginner
About this exercise
Get exactly 3 resume bullets starting with '- ', each beginning with a past-tense action verb and under 20 words. Use only numbers that appear in your notes, invent none, and leave out anything unrelated to the work. Plain text, no sign-off.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Inventing numbers. The AI adds '500 cans' to make it sound strong. Try: Say: "Use only numbers from my notes. Invent none."
- Including noise. Pizza and your cousin aren't resume material. Try: Add: "Leave out anything unrelated to the work."
- Wrong bullet shape. You get long sentences with 'I' and no verbs up front. Try: Say: "Exactly 3 bullets, each starting with a past-tense verb."
- Too many bullets. The AI loves long bullet lists. Try: Say: "At most 3 bullets."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total and it often lands 20% over. Try: Cap each part: "each line under 12 words."
- Forgetting where it's going. AI formats for a screen, with bold and headings that show up as stray symbols. Try: Say: "Plain text, no bold, no headings."
What a strong prompt includes
- Says how many bullets
- Asks for action verbs
- Bans invented numbers
- Cuts unrelated details
- Limits each bullet
