List ARR mismatches between CRM and billing as strict JSON

About this exercise

Return one code block with a JSON array of the accounts where billing and CRM differ by $1,000 or more (exactly $1,000 counts). Each object has exactly the keys account, crm, billing, diff and cause. diff is billing minus crm (a signed number). cause is "seat_change_not_in_crm", "discount_not_in_crm" or "unknown", and is unknown unless the note supports another. Sort by absolute diff, largest first, one object per line. No more than 6 words outside the block.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Including small differences. The AI includes Dune's $500. Try: Say: "Only differences of $1,000 or more; exactly $1,000 counts."
  • Guessing a cause. The AI invents a cause for Ember. Try: Say: "cause is unknown unless the note supports another."
  • Wrong sign or sort. The AI computes crm minus billing or sorts by account. Try: Say: "diff = billing minus crm; sort by absolute diff, largest first."
  • Skipping the code block. The AI writes prose around the data instead of one block. Try: Say "return exactly one code block".
  • Letting the block sprawl. The AI pretty-prints and adds extra lines. Try: Say "keep the block under N lines".
  • Talking around the block. The AI adds an intro and notes outside the block. Try: Say "no words outside the block except ...".
  • Leaving a requirement unstated. The AI follows its own defaults unless the prompt spells this out. Try: State it plainly in your prompt: the code block is a JSON array of exactly 4 objects with exactly the keys account, crm, billing, diff and cause, one object per line.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the five keys
  • Gives the threshold rule
  • Signed diff and sort
  • Unknown fallback
  • Asks for one code block
  • Keeps the block short
  • Limits text outside the block
