About this exercise
Write exactly 4 numbered questions for the exit interview. Each starts with What, How or Which, ends with "?" and is 18 words or fewer. Cover (1) what triggered the decision, (2) what alternatives they looked at, (3) what would have changed the outcome, and (4) how onboarding went. Do not suggest a reason, mention price, or hint at a win-back. Plain text, nothing else.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Leading questions. The AI asks "Was the price too high?" because the CRM says price. Try: Say: "Do not suggest a reason or mention price."
- Yes/no questions. The AI writes "Did you consider other vendors?". Try: Say: "Start each with What, How or Which."
- Missing a topic. The AI repeats the same theme in two questions. Try: Say: "Cover the four topics, one each."
- Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
- Leaving the item count open. The AI adds or drops items to feel complete. Try: Say "exactly N numbered lines, nothing else".
What a strong prompt includes
- Fixes the count and starters
- Lists the four topics
- Bans leading content
- Caps length
- Asks for plain text
- Sets the exact item count
