About this exercise

Write the email from Hanne to Joaquin. Subject line first (under 8 words), then "Hi Joaquin,". Mention one thing going well and one next step from the notes, then make one ask: a 20-minute call, offering both time slots. State the trial end date once as a plain fact. No urgency words (no "only", "last chance", "don't miss", "hurry"). End with "Hanne". Plain text, under 120 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Copying the template. The AI uses "only 1 day left - don't miss out". Try: Say: "No urgency words; state the end date once as a plain fact."
  • More than one ask. The AI asks for a call, a demo and a reply. Try: Say: "One ask: a 20-minute call with both slots."
  • Generic praise. The AI says "great start" with no detail. Try: Say: "Name one thing going well from the notes."
  • Getting markdown back. AI adds bold and headings by default, which show up as stray symbols where this is pasted. Try: Say "plain text, no bold, no headings, no asterisks".
  • Trusting the AI to count words. The AI runs long and cannot count its own words. Try: Cap each part ("each line under 12 words") and add "under N words in total".
  • Leaving a requirement unstated. The AI follows its own defaults unless the prompt spells this out. Try: State it plainly in your prompt: the first line is a subject under 8 words, then 'Hi Joaquin,', and the email ends with 'Hanne'.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Greeting and sign-off
  • One win and one next step
  • Offers both slots
  • Bans urgency
  • Asks for plain text
  • Sets a word cap
