About this exercise

Your marketing manager asked for last month's ad metrics. Make one markdown table with columns Metric, Calculation and Result, one row each for CTR, CPC, CPA and ROAS, with the numbers written into each calculation, plain text apart from the table, under 80 words, and nothing before or after the table. Use the corrected conversion count.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Using 150 conversions. The AI divides by the exported 150 and reports a CPA of $40. Try: Add: "CPA uses the corrected 120 conversions."
  • Results with no working. The AI gives a table of results only. Try: Add: "A Calculation column with the numbers, like 4,000 / 200,000."
  • Wrapping the table. The AI adds analysis and tips. Try: Add: "Output only the table, no intro or notes."
  • Leaving the format to chance. The AI picks its own length and layout unless told the exact shape. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold or headings."
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example "each line under 15 words."

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the columns
  • Uses the corrected count
  • Asks for working
  • Gives the formats
  • Cuts the chatter
