About this exercise
A teammate's slide says 'Customer satisfaction doubled' next to a bar chart. Write exactly 3 labeled lines in plain text, under 70 words: Verdict, Math and Fix. Verdict is True or Misleading plus a short reason, Math shows the real percent change with the division, and Fix says what to change on the chart.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Agreeing with the chart. The AI trusts the visual and says the bars show a big improvement. Try: Add: "Check the claim against the numbers: 82 to 86."
- No math. The AI says 'a small improvement' without the percent. Try: Add: "Math: (86 - 82) / 82 = about 4.9%."
- No fix. The AI describes the problem but not what to change. Try: Add: "Fix: start the axis at 0 or change the title."
- Leaving the format to chance. The AI picks its own length and layout unless told the exact shape. Try: Add: "Plain text, no bold or headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting. Ask for a total word limit and it often lands over it. Try: Cap each part instead, for example "each line under 15 words."
What a strong prompt includes
- Gives the three labels
- Asks for true or misleading
- Asks for the division
- Mentions the axis
- Rules out extras
