About this exercise

Three leaders replied to your campaign kickoff thread and disagree on some points. Write a prompt for plain text with four lines, "Goal:", "Audience:", "Budget:" and "Launch date:", each under 15 words. When the thread conflicts, write "Unresolved" and name the conflicting options instead of picking one. Then a heading line "Open questions:" and exactly 3 numbered questions for the sponsor, each naming who disagrees. Under 130 words.

Common mistakes when you ask AI for this

  • Picking a winner. The AI resolves the conflict by choosing the CEO's or VP's view. Try: Add: "If the thread conflicts, write Unresolved and name the options."
  • Unnamed disagreements. The AI writes general questions without saying who disagrees. Try: Say: "Each question names who disagrees."
  • Marking the date unresolved. The AI over-applies the rule; everyone agreed on Mar 3. Try: Say: "Only mark Unresolved where people truly conflict."
  • Writing a narrative. The AI summarizes the thread in prose. Try: Show the four labels and the numbered questions.
  • Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.

What a strong prompt includes

  • Names the four labels
  • Says to flag conflicts
  • Asks for open questions
  • Requires naming who disagrees
  • Caps length
