About this exercise
You maintain competitor claims for the sales team, and anything last checked more than 90 days before Nov 7, 2026 must be rechecked. Write a prompt for a markdown table with columns Claim | Checked | Status, one row per claim in the log, where Status is Current or Recheck. End with a line starting "Recheck:" like "Recheck: 2 of 6". Under 110 words, no other text.
Common mistakes when you ask AI for this
- Trusting the sales team. The AI keeps integrations Current because someone believes it. Try: Say: "Decide only by the Last checked date."
- Including the new claim. The AI adds a row with no date. Try: Say: "Only the six claims with check dates."
- Date math slips. The AI miscounts days across months. Try: Say: "Anything checked before Aug 9 is Recheck."
- Letting markdown through. AI adds bold text and headings by default. Try: Add: "Plain text only, no bold, no headings."
- Trusting the AI to count words. AI is bad at counting and often runs past a word limit. Try: Cap each part (for example "each line under 15 words") so the total lands well under the limit.
What a strong prompt includes
- Names the table columns
- States the cutoff
- Defines the statuses
- Gives the final line
- Limits to dated claims
